Pong Tournament at Divine Mercy Funfest
The new and popular competitive game -- Pong -- will be part of the fun at Divine Mercy Funfest in South Milwaukee. The church festival will be held August 7 - 9 at 695 College Avenue.
Funfest's double elimination Pong tournament will use water instead of beer.
“Funfest is a family friendly event," said Pong "king" Derek Maliker.
Participants are free to drink beer if over 21 years old.
The tournament, pitting two-person teams against each other, starts at 3 p.m. on August 9. The entry fee is $10 per team. Cash prizes for the winning team will be awarded.
Maliker, who gained his Pong expertise playing with friends after learning the sport at college, said he's expecting more than 36 teams at Sunday's showdown.
His advice: "You've got to focus on the cup and go through the motions. It's all muscle memory,"
It's a simple game, just put the ball in the cup. Easier said then done. Funfest runs August 7-9, for more information dmfunfest.com
