FREE Lunch Is In When School Is Out

The School District of South Milwaukee announces the sponsorship of the Summer Food Service Program.

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), which is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, provides nutritious meals to children during the summer, when the regular meal program is unavailable. Free meals will be available to all children 18 years and under. Persons over 18 years of age who are determined by a state or local public educational agency to be mentally or physically disabled and who also participate in a public or private non-profit school program during the regular school year may receive free meals as well.

Lakeview Elementary School, 711 Marion Avenue, will host the program again this year. A free meal will be provided to all children regardless of race, color, national origin, age, gender or disability. Service will be provided from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 22nd through July 31st, 2009. Please enter the building through door # 2. There will be no lunch service on Friday, July 3rd.

This program fills a void created when school lunches are not available. Helping parents meet the nutritional needs of their children is the strength of this program.

Lunch will be available to interested adults for $1.50 (does not include milk). Milk will be available for $0.25.
