Howard C. Hernke
Howard C. Hernke of Racine and Conover, died March 18, 2009, at his daughter's home.
He was born to the late Edna and Charles Hernke on June 17, 1926, in Milwaukee. He graduated from South Milwaukee High School in 1944 and enlisted in the Army infantry in October, 1944. He married Millie in 1950, and they lived in Racine. He was employed at Ladish Co. for more than 30 years.
He owned H&H Construction and was a homebuilder, finish carpenter and mason. Howie loved life and the people in it. He was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan.
He is survived by his children, Robert H. of Winneconne, and Thomas C. and Deborah T. Hernke of Racine.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
A funeral service was held March 21 at the Forest Hill Memorial Park chapel. Entombment was at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Memorials in Hernke's name are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
