A sunny afternoon brought dozens of dogs and their "people" to splash in the Brown Deer Village Pond. The annual event is a big hit with the two- and four-legged swimmers, although chasing tennis balls repeatedly seemed to be the favorite activity.

City of Wauwatosa Police Officer Dan Kane talks on his radio after a female driver, still seated in the truck she was driving, hit a utility support cable at the intersection of Wells and 70th streets in Wauwatosa. Kane was standing in the open door of his parked squad car at the time of the crash. Referring to the cable Kane said of the crash, "if she had not hit that I'd be dead."
Terry Mattern, of Franklin, polishes his 1955 Chevrolet, "Miss Patty", in the shade of a tree near the golf course in Whitnall Park. Mattern bought the car in 1990 and finished restoring the classic auto in 1993. He named the car after his late wife Patty, who died in 1999.
