The following is posted at the request of E.W. Luther Elementary School parent Linda Bellis:
Hello Luther Families,
This is a reminder that your presence is needed at the July 8 school board meeting regarding the future of E.W. Luther’s principal position. In a meeting conducted shortly after Principal Cathy Schultz’s resignation announcement, the district superintendent told E.W. Luther staff that a decision had not yet been made regarding the principal’s position. On July 8, it is imperative that the school board fully understand that Luther children deserve a full-time principal (versus part time or a shared position within the district) who can consistently invest in the children and their families (not a one year interim principal). Per State statutes, two years is the longest that a principal’s contract can be granted. It then becomes a rolling contract with a year added each year to keep the contract at two years. Why should Luther children be given less than children attending other schools in the district?
Again, feel free to contact me with feedback, 571-0762 or lbellis@att.net. I look forward to seeing you at the next school board meeting!
Thank you,
Linda Bellis
