The Barking Lot - America's Finest Dog Blog (12/14/13)

The Barking Lot

The Barking Lot is a regular weekly feature of This Just In
Written by my lovely wife, Jennifer and me. It opens with the weekend dog walking forecast followed by the main blog from dog lover, Jennifer. Then its DOGS IN THE NEWS and our close. Enjoy!

THE WEEKEND DOG-WALKING FORECAST: We grade the weather outlook for taking your pet outdoors.

TODAY: UPDATE: Light snow with totals ranging from 1-3 inches. A high of 26.  "F"

SUNDAY: Partly cloudy and windy. High of 14. "F"

Here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer with this week’s main blog:

When I tell people that I have never asked Kevin for anything for Christmas they look at me like I am nuts.  (Actually I’m pretty used to “that look.”)  It’s true:  I have never, ever asked for anything.  Why?  Because he knows what I like, what I don’t like, what size I am, etc.  He’s never failed, partly because he never strays from his own rule:  “Don’t buy her anything with a cord.  That’s not a present, that’s a necessity and it doesn’t belong under the Christmas tree.”  He can’t help but laugh at the befuddled guy at the department store wandering around mumbling, “I just don’t know what to get her.”

When we add a dog to our family she will for sure be included in the gift list.  I already know who’s going to spoil her the most, Mr. Marshmallow himself.  He’ll be the one saying “Let’s just get her one more thing” which will end up being FIVE more things.  I know how he operates!  While he probably won’t need any suggestions he might find some inspiration from this outstanding list of 12 Great Gifts.

I’ll admit that when I had pets growing up, we never thought about toxicity in the Christmas wrap for their presents.  Since we did 99% of the unwrapping FOR them I suppose it really wasn’t an issue.  Just in case you’re the overly-cautious type, you can order dog-friendly paper.  No, I’m not kidding.

No matter who in your family buys gifts for Fido, just make sure you don’t succumb to this trend
